Please email a current CV, short summary of graduate research and future plans, and at least three references.

Prospective graduate students

Please apply to the Program in Cell, Molecular, Developmental Biology, and Biophysics (CMDB).

For interested first-year graduate students

Laboratory rotations occur on a quarterly basis. Students are expected to devote some of their studies to the completion of a 10-week project. Rotation projects can be tailored to a student's interests and skills. Please email Erik to discuss projects and plans, if you are interested.

Prospective undergraduate researchers

Positions are available for undergraduate students to work part-time and learn what it is like to do science. We expect that most research experiences in the lab will culminate in an independent project before graduation. We are looking for students who have the following attributes:

  1. Freshmen or sophomores. Freshman should apply first semester to leverage prestigious funding options available at Johns Hopkins.
  2. Can work at least 12 hours per week during the academic year. That time will be divided between independent projects and work to support the laboratory.
  3. Can work full-time for one or more summers. These summer research positions can be funded by grants or volunteer.
  4. Are willing to intern, apply for summer scholarships, and perform research for credit.
  5. Would be willing to continue in the lab for the remainder of their time at Johns Hopkins University.

Please apply by email with a CV or resume and a personal statement describing what research specifically interests you.
